What is Spectrum View?
Children with special needs also have parents with special needs - they need to know all that they can about their child's situation, the need to be constantly updated on new and developing technologies and strategies that can help children succeed, the need to talk to and listen to others who have walked down the path before. Spectrum View exists to meet those needs and more.
Spectrum View is part of a new website called "Skillbuilding Buddies." This unique online experience, which is provided free to users, provides engaging, video-based interventions that help children learn the skills they need to communicate and socialize with others and to perform daily activities independently. It uses state-of-the-art video technology to reach children, parents, teachers and caregivers.
Created by Mazzarella Media, LLC, an Emmy-award winning educational video company and co-produced by Cynthia Simms, a freelance reporter/producer and the mom of a child with Asperger's Syndrome, Spectrum View will give parents and caregivers direct access to experts in all aspects of care for the child who has special learning needs. We will bring noted experts into the studio, or visit them in the field, to learn how to make the journey through the autism spectrum easier for everyone.

Ahhh, Saturday morning!!
It’s 8 a.m. I have coffee. My two boys are still sleeping. Life is good.

We are officially three days into our summer vacation, and I am officially running out of time.
It was a rough run to the school finish line. On the last day of school, my son asked to be driven to school 45 minutes early to do some extra [...]
Good Weeks, Bad Weeks
We all have them – weeks when everything goes right, and weeks when nothing goes right.
Last week was a “nothing was going right” week I started my car on Monday and got some weird warning light about my brakes. I burned the pork chop dinner I labored over for hours on Tuesday, and I [...]
Expert
I have become an expert . . . at knowing nothing.
I used to think I was an expert at everything. I knew public relations and marketing, writing, editing, filmmaking, speaking French, being a mother, being a friend . . . you name it, I knew it. I lived it, breathed it, got paid for it [...]
Pants on Fire
Today’s particular blog is not about being the mom of a child with autism. It’s about being the mom of a teenager. Those of you with teens will totally know what I am talking about. Those of you whose children haven’t gotten there yet – it’s coming.
If I told my 14-year-old son [...]
