New Video Helps Children with ASD Learn Appropriate Behaivors
BRISTOL, CT – Do you avoid eating out at a restaurant because you have a child with autism? Is it just to stressful a situation to even attempt? Perhaps Skill Building Buddies (www.skillbuildingbuddies.com) latest video release “Let’s Go Out To Eat” can help.
Combining animation and live-action sequences, the program teaches children, developmentally age 3-8, what to expect when they go to a sit-down restaurant. Mark Mazzarella, co-founder of Skill Building Buddies says, “…the program models appropriate behaviors necessary for a stress-reduced experience for both the child and parents alike. Kids will also learn communication skills and proper table manners as well”.
“Let’s Go Out To Eat”, along with other Skill Building Buddies modeling videos can be used by parents and educators at no cost just by visiting www.skillbuildingbuddies.com .
“We want all parents, teachers, psychologists, social workers and all direct care providers of children with autism to make Skill Building Buddies part of their child’s learning day, every day”, says Mazzarella. “Repetition is the key to developing new skills”.
Over the past several years, clinical studies have demonstrated that modeling videos, depicting appropriate behaviors, can be effective in helping children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental challenges develop social skills and daily living skills.
Skill Building Buddies launched the first free-access website to provide video-based interventions for learners with special needs in 2008. Skill Building Buddies leads the industry in providing award-winning, effective, educational videos to help children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities develop the skills they need to communicate and socialize with others and to perform daily activities independently.
